Jérôme Ducharme and Quatuor Claudel-Canimex in concert – july 13th, 2012

The joining of a string quartet and a guitar for the interpretation of 2 major pieces will make this concert an exceptional moment. Composed in 1950 for famous guitarist Andrés Segovia, this piece by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco (1895-1968) was inspired by memories and Spanish melodies. Described by its composer as “melodious and serene”, the piece is divided into four movements, contrasting lively and more peaceful melodies. Almost solely dedicated to the guitar, the pieces by Russian composer and guitarist Koshkin are characterized by lively rhythms, great liveliness and a wide range of colours. Created in Moscow in 2006, the piece presents itself in the traditional four-movement. The first movement is a sonata form with labyrinth-like colour themes. The second is a romance, the third is a boisterous scherzo and the last, a passacaglia sinking in dark musical madness.

Jérôme Ducharme will play using his 2005 cedar top guitar.

At “Festival Classique des Hautes-Laurentides”
